As the official Tourism board representing the community, commerce, and tourism sectors in Malpais, Santa Teresa, Playa Hermosa & Playa Manzanillo, we are dedicated to linking our issues to the government and the general public.

Our Mission:

Promote and strengthen regenerative, ethical and high-quality tourism, through authentic Costa Rican experiences for tourists, in harmony with nature, integrating the traditions of local culture, activating community and environmental resources, and strengthening strategic alliances for the benefit of the affiliates.

Our Vision:

To be the association responsible for the organization, union and representation of tourism entrepreneurs and businesses of the coastal strip that includes Malpaís, Santa Teresa, Playa Hermosa and Manzanillo, in order to position the blue zone as the most important destination for regenerative tourism and Costa Rica wellness center

Current projects:

Territorial Planning and Development:

CATUCZA actively participates in territorial planning initiatives in Cóbano, promoting organized and sustainable tourism development that balances the needs of the community, the environment, and the local economy.

Business Representation and Support:

We serve as a strategic partner to our members, providing support and representation before public institutions and other stakeholders to address the tourism sector’s needs and strengthen the destination’s competitiveness.

Destination Promotion and Positioning:

We promote the Blue Zone as a tourism destination through business networking events, familiarization trips (FAM Tours), international promotion, and strategic partnerships, highlighting the region’s tourism, gastronomy, natural attractions, and cultural heritage.

Safety and Well-being:

We work closely with local authorities and organizations to improve destination safety, supporting initiatives such as video surveillance along the coastal area and the establishment of a Tourist Police presence in Santa Teresa.

Regenerative Tourism:

We promote an authentic, high-quality regenerative tourism model focused on wellness, surfing, and romance. Our approach strengthens local communities, values our culture, and encourages local production and consumption.
